A validator refers to a blockchain network participant who helps validate and secure transactions on the network.

In proof-of-stake (PoS) models, validators are picked to forge new blocks and confirm transactions depending on the volume of digital asset tokens they possess and are ready to "commit" as security. The larger the amount a validator commits, the greater their likelihood of being chosen to generate a new block and receive incentives.

Validators are responsible for verifying the accuracy and integrity of transactions, ensuring they meet the consensus rules of the network. They play a crucial role in maintaining the decentralized nature and security of the blockchain by confirming the validity of transactions and adding them to the blockchain's ledger. Validators are typically rewarded for their participation in the network through incentives such as earning rewards in the chain's native digital asset.
