A node refers to an individual computer or a device that participates in the decentralized network. The key functions of nodes are maintaining a copy of the blockchain, verifying transactions, and ensuring the network's integrity. Usually, nodes have a copy of blockchain history and continuously communicate with each other to exchange information and validate transactions. Nodes can be run by individuals, organizations, or even mining/staking pools (collective groups of nodes, that combine their computational resources to increase their chances of earning rewards for their work). By participating as nodes, individuals contribute to the decentralized nature of the digital asset network, helping to secure and validate transactions without relying on a central authority.
